Other Case Studies
The Client has a mammoth transportation business with its presence in USA and Canada, extending its service for logs and heavy mechanical equipments. The Client is headquartered in California, USA.
We stay abreast of the latest technical developments. Our expertise in Website designing includes:
- Data Entry Operators to fill the details of a haul based on the data provided by Clients and Truck Drivers
- Area Managers to generate reports by collating the details of each haul/trailer/train, their routes, commodities, Fuel consumption, associated problems, mills and garages
- Accounting Personnel for associating accounts with Clients, fill payment details, calculates charges, makes sales receipts
- Payroll personnel to calculate charges for Employees or Contract Drivers and makes bills accordingly.
Openwave came up with a solution that integrated the complex workflows of the Client like automating the haul recording and tracking system, optimizing hauls and tracking payments. As there was a complex flow of data on hauls, charges etc and the haul details directly affecting the cost of operations, Ruby-on-Rails framework was implemented rather than Java EE or .NET, so as to make changes to the model directly and observe the results without having to set up every part of getting that data propagated throughout the rest of the system. Furthermore, due to the complex interface where a User like Data Entry Operator or Accounting Personnel had to enter a lot of information based on a range of information like truck/trailer details, route details, commodities and fuel consumption, Ajax was used to make quick and incremental updates to the User Interface without having to reload the entire browser page for this application.

The Client coordinates with WHO, UNICEF and other Non-Profitable Organizations around the world to eradicate HIV. This system was implemented first in the City of Baltimore, USA. This will be implemented worldwide in future.
The main objective of the project is to provide help expediting and coordinating the individual efforts of various Organizations working towards the eradication of HIV. The system itself is a complex one that integrates many software technologies and tools. The tools were used to implement the following features:
- The Map of Baltimore city is shown in Flash with several layers like Census Block Group (CBG), Neighborhood, Zip Code, Censure Data, Morbidity Data, etc…
- Social Networking features are integrated using "Dolphin"
- The program interacts with the database using XML created at run time using the data from MySQL database.
- With the help of Flex 3.0 we have created a Dashboard that can house various applications including CBIS, Social Networking, Google Maps….
- A Custom built Content Management System (CMS) to manage the contents of the entire System.
Openwave seeks to exploit the use of Internet and matchmaking technologies in the development of social capital that is directed towards the creation and maintenance of an active network of health agents that not only includes the CBOs but local and federal health agencies and research institutions as well. Better resource allocation, improved service coordination and more effective health interventions will result from providing an effective means for collective action. Through the innovative use of new technologies, such as vector-based mapping and "rich client" technologies that accommodate the development of accessible interface designs for the non-expert, we developed a fully functional, web based resource that creates a network of organized reciprocity for better health.
To build such an efficient system, we made use of Flash Action Scripting with the Combination of LAMP Architecture. We used our expertise in Flash to create Flash maps which has many layers and provide interactive user friendly interface.
We have made use of the Agile Software Development methodology.
Flash 9.0, Ajax, PHP and MySql, Flex 3.0, Dolphin Open Source.

The client provides monitoring and maintenance activities of computers and network devices to a number of customers. They monitor numerous organizations' network devices such as servers, routers, firewalls, and workstation pc's. Their customers pay them a monthly fee for this service and one of the promised deliverables to our customer for this fee is a monthly report that summarizes their network's "health". They call this report the Executive Report or Network Health Report. In this report, they analyze a number of network metrics such as:
- Status of Windows updates or patches for servers & workstations
- Free disk space on hard drives
- Anti-Virus protection - are virus signatures up to date or out of date
- Internet uptime
- Server uptime
- Backup success or failure
- Open and recently closed service tickets Nucentric has worked on while supporting their network.
The objective of this project is to monitor network devices and collect data about the status of network device. The Executive Report is built using Visual Studio and SQL Reporting Services.
The report is designed to be a 1-page summary for non-technical customers such as a small business owner to show them that our Client is doing a good job supporting and maintaining their network.
Sections of the Executive Report
- Customer Info
- System Status
- Security Status
- System Availability
- Service Requests
- Disk Utilization
- Patch Management
Executive Report Data Sources
The Executive Report uses 2 primary systems from which it gets its data:
- Kaseya – This is a system that our client uses to monitor network devices and collect data about the status of network device. We also use Kaseya for patching servers and workstations, remote control support, etc.
- Connectwise – This is a system that our Client uses for service ticket management, employee's time tracking and customer billing. The "Service Requests" section at the bottom of the report gets data from ConnectWise to display recently opened and closed service tickets.
In the Anti-Virus section of the Executive Report, the user may run a sub-report displaying the detail of the Anti-Virus status for that customer.
In order to gather the data necessary report on status of anti-virus, we had to create a script that runs on all of our "managed" pc's and servers that checks for the virus signature version and date. The script is deployed to all "managed" pc's and server via Kaseya. We install the Kaseya software agent on each of these "managed" pc's and this allows us to deploy scripts such as this Anti-Virus script to each of the managed pc's. The purpose of the AV Master script is so that one script can be executed on all client machines and collect data on every AV product that is installed.
